We’ll begin our adventure in Washington with a unique dinner on Capitol Hill on Wednesday night, and we’ll conclude with a visit on Friday morning to Josh Good at the Aspen Institute’s Religion and Society Program. In between, we’ll hear from Barry Black, Chaplain of the U.S. Senate, Susan Gates at Faith and Law, Michael Wear at the Center for Christianity and Public Life, Cherie Harder from The Trinity Forum, Nicole Bibbins Sedaca of the George W. Bush Presidential Center, and many others to be announced soon.
We will encounter two extraordinary artifacts on a special tour that connect us to the foundations of our faith: The Dead Sea Scrolls and the Megiddo Mosaic, both making rare appearances from Israel, on temporary display at the Museum of the Bible.
Fragments of the Dead Sea Scrolls contain sections of the Torah copied more than two thousand years ago — physical evidence of the unbroken message from God to His people. The Megiddo Mosaic is a beautiful arrangement of tiles from the third century that served as the floor of one of the oldest sites of Christian worship ever to be discovered. These ancient items remind us that our Christian faith is anchored in texts that have been meticulously preserved, and in communities that have survived through all forms of government, for centuries and centuries.
While in our nation’s capital, during the 250th anniversary of America’s declaration of independence, we will also examine another set of foundations: The first principles that form the bedrock of our experiment in democracy. As a community of philanthropists and investors who hold in unison an allegiance to Jesus Christ as King, this trip offers something different from contemporary partisanship. We explore the moral imagination and the grounding of Scripture that shape our nation, even as professing Christians today pursue divergent expressions of that shared faith, whether liberal or conservative and everything in between. We’ll hear from a range of voices on living out our faith in a public, polarized, pluralistic arena.
For the patriotic price of $1776 per solo traveler, the trip includes a two-night stay at the historic Cosmos Club, special meals in great settings, and conversations with experts new to The Gathering along with old friends, all to be announced soon.

Criteria to join our community events
- Follow Jesus as Lord and Savior.
- Give at least $200,000 a year to Christian causes. Though the number isn't a rigid threshold, it represents a proxy for the types of people who are asking and wrestling with the same questions around wise stewardship, giving well, avoiding pitfalls, raising the next generation, allocating resources, defining a family legacy, etc. People come to The Gathering to pursue relationships with peers who are exploring similar issues with a measure of humility, vulnerability, and trust.
